Chatham County CERT Program

What is CERT?

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and can take a more active role in preparing their community.

Recent Events:

The Fearrington CERT team held a CERT training which graduated 14 new members in June 2008.

The Chatham Citizen Corps Council Office in Siler City has established a partnership with the Central Carolina Community College and CERT training will be available free of charge at the two campuses located in Chatham County. The next course date is still to be determined.
