Emergency Sheltering committee goals are to:

Provide information to the public on safely sheltering "In-Place" and on County Shelter use.

Coordinate consultation for churches, homeowner associations, and other groups that may want to provide limited day sheltering to members of their community.

Coordinate/provide sheltering trainings between volunteers and County employees charged with shelter operations.

Recruit, train, and organize a group of volunteers who can provide surge-capacity to the County shelter operations when called upon to do so.

Coordinate with local officials responsible for shelter operations to ensure adequacy of volunteer numbers, skills, credentials, and experience.

For more information, or to sign up for Red Cross training, contact Ann Watson at our office. Phone: (919) 663-1181 and e-mail: awatson@chathammrc.org.
